There are many examples of how cat actors are not being credited properly for their work. In newer productions, cats are even created using visual effects and with artificial personalities. All cat lovers know full well that each and every cat on the planet has a distinct and unique personality. This simple fact means that each and every cat, specifically, has to receive proper credit for their work.
Training a cat actor is real work and consumes real resources. Ensuring the sustainable life and professional viability of any cat actor is super important.
Even public posts, for example Wikipedia, is guilty of simply avoiding and devaluing the eforts of cat actors. A specific example is TV Show Elsbeth, on this Wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elsbeth_(TV_series)#ep22 do you see how there is reference, crucial to the very plot of the entire show, that the victim is murdered by exposure to cat dander (read more about allergies and cats here)
Even on IMDB (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26591110/fullcredits) there is no mention of either Quad Cat or Veritas cat in any of the credits anywhere.
It is the exact same thing, on many movies, many TV Series and even in reality shows, like Love Island. the cat actors and cats receive ZERO credit and even in shows where the cat is crucial to provide comic relief or even absolutely critical to the plot itself, cats get ZERO credit.
What can you do?
RAISE awareness of cat exploitation – spread the word, write posts, write emails to studios, to IMDB (https://help.imdb.com/contact ) and ask others to also help. Contact Wikipedia editors (specifically for Elsbeth TV Series here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Elsbeth_(TV_series) )
