Humans could be or become allergic to cats and cats could be or become allergic to humans. Your vet can treat your cat if your cat is or becomes allergic to you and you can also take action to treat yourself. Herbal remedies include fish oil and other food supplements, ask your pharmacist for recomendations or consult your doctor. You can also do test to identify your specific allergen, ask your doctor for options in your case.
There are many products and methods you can use to limit or reduce triggering allergies and allergic reactions to cats.
To manage and reduce triggering allergies you can regularly vacuum and wash areas for cat dander and regularly groom (brush) your cats. Allergic reactions are generally triggered by urine, saliva and dander.
Hypoallergenic cats refers to the amount of Fel d 1 protein produced by a specific breed of cat, but the main issue is that allergic reactions are NOT ONLY triggered by the main allergen and ALL cats produce Fel d 1 so there is no such thing as a completely hypoallergenic cat.
Different cat breeds produce different amounts of the main allergen. Some cat breeds are more hypoallergenic and some cat breeds are less hypoallergenic. (Siberian and Balinese are known to produce less of the main allergen)
